Event type editor overview (Beta)

Beta

We've improved availability management and the event type editor, now in public beta for select users. If you're currently in the beta, learn more about how we've improved the event type editor below.

The event type editor is a tool used to create and update event types, allowing you to customize your meeting settings, set availability, and configure automated notifications.

For example, you can:

  • Create a new event type.
  • Update the settings and availability of existing event types.
  • Manage your automated notifications for your event type.

Before you begin

  • Only owners, admins, and group admins can edit event types for other users, unless additional event type permissions are granted. To learn more, check out: Event type permissions overview.

  • You can create an event type after completing the basic settings: Event name, Duration, Location, Availability, and Host(s). More settings are available by clicking More options at the bottom of the event type editor.

What's new?

  • Max meetings: Set daily, weekly, and/or monthly meeting limits at the event type level.
  • Update event type editor: Quickly create and edit event types with an easier-to-use event type editor. Access essential settings with the first click, explore optional customizations with the second, and easily preview your events.

  • Buffers: Set buffers to avoid back-to-back meetings, which can now be edited or deleted from scheduled meetings on your Meetings page.
  • Free/busy rules: Easily prioritize your most important events by allowing invitees to book over less critical meetings.
