Event type editor overview

The event type editor is your tool for creating and updating Event Types. Use it to customize your meeting details, set availability, and manage automated notifications.

For example, you can:

  • Create an Event Type
  • Update settings and availability for any existing Event Type
  • Manage automated notifications for each Event Type

Before you begin

Only owners, admins, and group admins can edit Event Types for other users. Others can edit if they've been given event type permissions. Learn more in the Event type permissions overview.

To create an Event Type, you’ll first need to set a few basics:

  • Event name
  • Duration
  • Location
  • Availability
  • Host(s)

After that, you can access more settings by selecting More options at the bottom of the editor.

What's new?

  • New event type editor: It’s now easier to create and edit Event Types. Start with the essentials, then explore advanced options. You can also preview how the Event Type looks to invitees.
  • Max meetings: Limit the number of meetings per day, week, or month for each Event Type.
  • Buffers: Add breaks between meetings. You can now edit or remove buffers directly from your Meetings page.
  • Apply to / Copy from: Set a Custom schedule in one Event Type, then copy or apply it to others.
  • Free/busy rules: Let Calendly prioritize your most important events by allowing invitees to book over less critical meetings.
