Event types in Calendly help you set up meeting templates for different purposes, such as product demos, customer calls, or office hours. Think of an event type as a reusable template for scheduling regular meetings with specific settings and details.
There are four kinds of event types you can create:
- One-on-One: Schedule individual meetings with one invitee per event.
- Group: Host events with multiple invitees at the same time.
- Collective: Coordinate a meeting where multiple team members meet with one invitee.
- Round Robin: Rotate meetings among multiple team members with one invitee.
One-on-One
A One-on-One event type is a meeting between one host and an invitee.
One-on-One events are commonly used for:
- Coffee chats with a client, colleague, or friend
- Phone interviews with a candidate
- Office hours with a student
Group
A Group event type is a one-to-many meeting, with one host and many invitees. You set how many people can join each time slot. Each time slot will stay open until all invitee spots are full.
Group events are commonly used for:
- Webinars
- Museum or campus tours
- Group fitness classes
- Admissions sessions for a university

Collective
A Collective event type is a many-to-one meeting, with many hosts and one invitee. Calendly checks when all the hosts are free and lets the invitee choose a time that works for everyone.
Collective events are commonly used for:
- Panel interviews
- Product discovery calls
- Client calls hosted by an account executive and sales development rep
- Troubleshooting calls hosted by both a support agent and engineer

Round Robin
A Round Robin event type is a one-on-one meeting that rotates among your team members based on availability or distribution settings. Calendly randomly assigns the event to an available host from your team.
Round Robin events are commonly used for:
- Sales calls where any sales agent can assist
- Onboarding calls that rotate among client services team members
- Support calls where customers are paired with the next available agent
- Personal training sessions that rotate among available trainers
