Need buffer time for in-between appointments
Featured AnsweredI've had this happen several times. I schedule an appointment with someone from 2:00 to 3:00, an hour appointment. Someone else sees I am "free" at 3:00 and books an appointment. I can't get from one location to another instantly, in most cases I am 30 minutes distant from any appointment, so I have to reschedule with the second appointment. What do people do for before and after travel times?

Hi Eric,
You can use our "Buffer before/after event" settings to:
- Account for meetings running long
- Give yourself adequate time to commute
- Adequately prepare for a meeting
- Regroup, take notes and send follow-up
You can find the buffer feature within your event types' advanced settings. We recommend adding a buffer either before or after events, as combining the two can sometimes get dicey. Keep in mind, adding buffers allows time to be tacked onto scheduled events. If you would like to add gaps of time between start times, then you'll want to edit your start time intervals for that day's availability.
Hope this helps!

Hi Ganesh,
Happy to help clarify here. The buffer is only added after the meeting is booked so that all of the time slots show up and you're able to offer more availability for the convenience of your invitees.
I hope that clarifies!

how about if i have a specific appointment that I need to drive to and can't talk to people? I have a 12, yet someone schedule an 11:45 that I need to be at a computer for but it takes me 1/2 an hour in the car. it's not for every appointment. how do I set a buffer just for a specific appointment?

Hi @Fred,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
While it is not possible to set a buffer for a specific appointment, you can use Zapier to block off time on your calendar if a specific event type is booked.
Zapier acts as a middleman, triggering actions in other apps after a Calendly event is scheduled or canceled. I hope that helps!
Thanks,
