    Hello all,

Thanks for all the great feedback about this very popular request. As Felix previously mentioned, two things happen when an event is canceled:

    1. "Canceled" is added to the title.
    2. The event status is changed from Busy to Available (so that it no longer blocks future bookings at that time).

Furthermore, if you delete an event within Google, Office 365, or Outlook.com, the event will cancel within Calendly as well.

I can understand the continued confusion/work this is adding for you and will advocate for this with the team.

    Best,

    Hannah at Calendly

I agree that the event should be removed from both sides on the calendars. Also, there should be a way to view all cancelled events. Example: I heard from a contact who says they're looking forward to our meeting tomorrow. I do not have a meeting on my calendar and it doesn't show on Calendly. My guess is that he scheduled it and I had to cancel, but I have no way of knowing that for sure.

    Hi Lauren,

    Thanks for supporting this idea!

Regarding viewing canceled events, you can view canceled events on your dashboard by adjusting the filter to view canceled events. You can learn more about the dashboard filter here: https://help.calendly.com/hc/en-us/articles/223195428-Analytics-tracking-reporting

    Hi,

Facing the same issue here. When an event is cancelled, it should be removed from the calendar to unlock availability within the timeframe. This also impacts any app you are integrated with like pipedrive, as it keeps the event, therefore any linked activity as well

I agree. I see the availability is open, but I don't want to see the event on my calendar (google) once it's canceled. Thank you.

I've noticed in testing that it deletes it from the calendar owner's Google calendar, but not from the user's AND it did not mark the event as cancelled in the user's calendar.

If the user forgets he/she cancelled and then expects a call...it will look highly unprofessional.

SO the event isn't deleted and neither is the cancellation confirmed for the user. This should be a priority to fix. I'd purchase this for my company, but I can't have this as an issue.

I'm not so sure that changing it from busy to free is working. I just had someone unable to rebook a time that overlapped with his previous option after it was cancelled.

Would be great if there was at least an option to automatically remove the event from the calendar instead of just marketing it as not busy (which doesn't seem to work) and adding "cancelled" in the title.

    Felix,

I agree with Lauren that it should be removed on both ends. Had the same concern not seeing canceled events in the dashboard, but now adjusted the filter.

Actually, maybe this could be an user setting in the calendar integration and / or event type?

AGREED!  When an event is cancelled, it should be removed from my calendar so as to keep things clean and up-to-date.

If you are using the Outlook sync does a cancelled event automatically remove the appointment in outlook calendar?

Please make it remove the invitation. Otherwise, this causes several issues and creates un-necessary work. It's also counter to the advice in the email about how to cancel an event.

+1, probably best to make it a configuration/preference setting so people can choose if they prefer the current behaviour or want the item to be deleted from the mutual calendars.

When an event is cancelled, by whoever booked it or the calendar owner, all parties involved should be notified and the event should be officially cancelled. This should prevent any future reminders going to any parties involved.

The problem I experienced recently was reminders are still sent even though the event has been deleted. (I tested twice: by deleting the event as a calendar owner and as someone who booked the event. Reminders were still sent to all involved.)

    Hey Airts -

Many apologies for the confusion. Sounds like you only deleted the event in your calendar, but did not cancel from the Calendly app. At this time, deleting the event in your calendar does not cancel the event, which is how those reminders were still sent. We are making improvements to how scheduled events can be managed in your connected calendar, so I'll be sure to communicate the limitation you're seeing with the Product team.

    Hi,

I'm also seeing that the Calendar Connection for Outlook is not removing cancelled meetings.  Is this a known issue or is there a configuration setting that I'm missing?

It's a little annoying to have to jump into calendly.com to verify when the meetings are on as I can't trust what the Calendar Connection has placed on my outlook calendar.

    Thanks - frank.

Hi Amanda thank you for the updates. We are using Calendly and Zoom to book on onboarding calls and really going into Gmail calendar to first remove the event and then into Calendly to delete the event is a lot for a busy person to do.

We've love it if removing the event from your calendar would also delete the Calendly event.

    Thanks!

Is there an update on this topic? I have had several clients that got frustrated with the fact that the person either cancelled or rescheduled the meeting but the update did not get pushed into their Google calendar, so it still showed as if the meeting was proceeding. This in turn results in phone calls or e-mail to the office, which we are attempting to avoid in the first place by using Calendly.

Do you have an update on this or a projection on when we can expect deletion/cancellation support for calendar entries made from Calendy but deleted in Outlook?

When something is cancelled, I would like it removed from my google calendar. If I need a record of cancellations, I can use a filter to see that in calendly. My calendar is crazy enough as it is without including things that are not happening:)

We are about to release a feature that will allow you to cancel Calendly events by deleting them from your Google or Office 365 calendar. This should be available in the next week or two.

Will that feature also work for iCloud calendar?  For those of us in the Apple eco-system, we hope so!

Amanda, nice to see cancelling work in both places, but will you also address the option to remove calendar entries on the integration end (outlook, google, etc.)

Just to add my two cents... MS decided to remove filter options from the to do calendar, so there is no way for me to filter away the "free" events on that preview.

Just cancelled an appointment with one client and need to book another in, but have no way to 'free up' the time slot as I cannot delete the cancelled event... Please provide a fix for this!

Running into the same issue with Rescheduled events... the old/original event remains on the Outlook calendar.

Would like to add my voice to the chorus of people who would like an option to completely remove a cancelled appointment from a linked Google calendar after it has been cancelled within Calendly. So if someone cancels, I would appreciate it if there is no longer a Google calendar event left in place in the linked calendar (even a renamed/non-busy one).

Having a number of "Cancelled: something" events in my calendar (especially when I receive notifications about the event or see them in "Next event" lists because nothing else recognizes the Cancelled: convention) is a real unpleasantness for me in an otherwise great service.

    Thanks!

P.S. Out of curiosity, was there some non-obvious technical or implementation reason that it was done this way?

Would voice my agreement that if it's cancelled it should be removed!

An additional issue regarding the remaining Outlook appointment after it has been canceled on the website is that there is not a way other than to "Cancel" it again to get it removed from Outlook.  And no matter what you do (even removing the client email address from the cancellation), the client receives a second cancellation email.  If the client rescheduled, this can be very confusing for the client as to which appointment was cancelled.  A fix here would be appreciated.

After over a year of people voice their concerns for a CANCELLED EVENT SHOULD BE REMOVED – Calendly doesn't have anything to say? C'mon guys, we love your product but this feature needs to be added.
